Our September sermon series, “We Need Each Other” will focus on how Jesus’s ministry was, at its core, one centered in mutual aid. While charity flows one way, with a clear hierarchy of giver and recipient, mutual aid is horizontal — it assumes interdependence as a sustainable, responsible, and ethical way to be in relationship with one another. In this mindset, today’s helper will be tomorrow’s helped.
Our congregation already knows how to be generous. The invitation is to celebrate and grow our interdependence with one another and with the neighborhood beyond our walls. To help in that journey, I encourage you to follow along with the small group/individual study guide for the series.
Our world is craving a deeper sense of connectedness and support. Join us in looking at how Jesus did it and how we, too, can live the change we’d like to see in the world.
